Outpatient access to ure-Na

ure-Na is available to order for next day arrival from most retail pharmacies. The pharmacist will usually need the National Drug Code # (NDC) to find ure-Na in their warehouse ordering system.  NDC # 62530-0000-11.

If a patient is being discharged on a Friday, we recommend that they are discharged with enough doses to last until Monday afternoon as retail pharmacies typically get deliveries weekdays Monday - Friday.

Insurance coverage

Current medicare policy is that medical foods like ure-Na are only covered when being administered via tube feeding.    Managed medicare plans such as Medicare HMO, PPO and Advantage as well as commercial plans will often cover ure-Na under the medical side of insurance (not Rx) as a DME item.

The patient will need to follow up with  an outpatient provider for PA under medical.
